In a new innovation, we’ve ‘reversed’ the process on this coin by applying it to the design background instead of the bounding kangaroo. The gilded area includes the inscription ‘KANGAROO’ and The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

  A similarly gilded obverse means the Queen’s effigy is surrounded by a layer of 24-carat gold.
