This is the second coin from Australian Bush Babies, a beautiful new series that made an enormous impact with the first release portraying a cute and cuddly kangaroo ‘joey’.

The coin is struck from 1/2oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality with a large 36mm diameter.

INFANT BILBY REVERSE

Illustrated by artist Elise Martinson, the coin depicts an irresistible image capturing the innocence and gentleness of a beautiful baby bilby. The background design displays the bilby’s authentic habitat and features a ‘friendly’ Australian insect.

The beloved bilby is an Australian desert-dwelling marsupial that is nocturnal. The bilby lives in burrows underground to protect itself from the heat and predators. This marsupial has adapted so well to its environment that the female’s pouch faces backwards so that it does not fill with dirt when she is digging!

‘P’ Mintmark

The coin’s reverse also includes The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.

Australian Legal Tender

Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
