Widow Mites were used in the holy land at around the time Jesus.
These coins were called lepton and two were worth same as lowest coinage or the Roman occupiers.

This coin was made in Bronze and shows kings name and anchor and on reverse 8-rayed star.
Many Judeans buried these coins for safe keeping but many were lost when they were killed and many were melted down to make other coins a bronze was a scarce commodity in the ancient times.
