Suspected Lunar Meteorite – Vesicular, Magnetic, Scandium-Bearing Rock
Weight: 16.57 g
Dimensions: 50 × 15 × 16 mm
Testing: XRF (Olympus Vanta)
This specimen is a dense, triangular vesicular stone with a fusion-crust-like outer texture and metallic response to a neodymium magnet. It exhibits an unusual elemental profile based on portable XRF analysis:
Si – 55.9%
Fe – 19.38%
Al – 18.44%
Sc – 1.094%
Ti – 1.86%
Mg, Mn, P, Ni, Sr, Zr – trace to minor concentrations
3 g/cm3 density
The presence of 1.094% scandium (Sc), elevated Ti and Al, and P (0.39%) is atypical for terrestrial rocks and highly suggestive of impact or extraterrestrial origin. The black, clastic interior and dark fusion-like coating support this interpretation.
This specimen was found alongside high-silica glasses containing >2% Sc and may originate from the same impact event.
Return Policy: 30 days for independent verification and testing.
